Zermatt, Utah is the 2nd EISC major West trip of the 2022 season. The EISC is very happy to have Chip and Diane Scholl as the club’s volunteer Trip Leaders for the Zermatt Utah Adventure trip! Diane and Chip are experienced trip leaders and will do an excellent job. The Zermatt Resort & Spa is a luxury 4 star, 4 diamond full service resort in the village of Midway, located in the scenic Heber Valley. This is a special European-styled ski trip for 28 fortunate EISC members.
The Swiss-inspired architecture surrounded by 10,000 foot mountain peaks is located on the back side of Deer Valley resort. We will enjoy the indoor-outdoor pool and hot-tubs, wellness center, full service spa, fitness center, 2 restaurants, pub, Swiss bakery and other great amenities.
The skiing can include Deer Valley, Park City and 1 day at the Sundance ski area. The Ski Resort Distance from Zermatt is Deer Valley - 11 minutes; Park City - 20 minutes; Sundance - 25 minutes. There is a complimentary shuttle service to Deer Valley, Park City, Midway and Heber Valley and to Sundance for groups. Lift tickets are not included, but are available for this trip. The Epic Local Pass includes Park City resort, however most skiers won’t want to miss an opportunity to ski Deer Valley and visit the legendary Sundance village and ski resort.
The EISC members will be staying at the 2 br / 2 bth luxury villas in the middle of the Swiss-styled village. Max Jensen is the property sales manager and is a high energy host, who takes a great interest in making sure all works well for her guests. Max stressed to us that Zermatt has great variety for skiers and non-ski adventurers as well. Besides the skiing, there is the Geo-thermal Homestead Crater, a large mound of mineral deposits containing a once-gushing hot spring. The clear blue waters are the perfect place to soak and float after a ski day. It is located across the street from Zermatt - this is a fantastic group activity. Snow shoeing and XC skiing is available at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center, Wasatch State Park and Sundance’s Nordic Center. Rental is available for snow shoes or XC skis at Wasatch State Park and Soldier’s Hollow. There is a snow tubing track - much more information on the area will be coming.
Nearby Midway is an historic village with a country feel. Visiting the shops and restaurants will be a fun experience for our members. The day trip to Sundance is for everyone. Sundance has many activities from cheese and candle making to working with silver to having a beer in the Owl Bar where part of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” was shot. It is a rare opportunity to ski this remote resort. “Sundance is an arts community, a recreational community, a community of people who appreciate the beauty of nature and feel the responsibility to preserve it.” - Robert Redford – former Owner & Founder. This is sure to be a great EISC adventure trip.
The Zermatt trip will go on sale at the June 5th EISC Spring Picnic and is priced at $919 Land Only / $1369 Land/Air – American Airlines – CID to PHX to SLC round trip. Look for Diane and Chip to sign up early for this exciting EISC adventure.
Many thanks all of the club’s volunteer Trip Leaders. The EISC is fortunate to have skilled members willing to help run our ski trips. If anyone would like to be a Trip Leader on a future EISC trip, please contact a Board member or sign up on the trip survey sheets. Hope to see you at the EISC Spring Picnic and on the Zermatt, Utah trip!
