New Orleans Motor Coach Trip--April 5-14
We had a great trip to New Orleans with many stops to and from. There was so much variety and interesting stops to fill the days. We had the luxury of a new, roomy bus, privately charted by our favorite driver, Dale.
The top highlights of our bus tour to New Orleans included Mardi Gras World, where they make the float figures primarily from Styrofoam and then construct the floats. We visited a French Quarter cemetery, Bourbon Street and heard great musicians on Frenchmen Street. We took a riverboat cruise along the Mississippi on the Creole Queen, stopping at a National Park featuring the site of the Battle of New Orleans,
which occurred in 1815. We did a swamp tour with lots of wildlife and a local guide with a fun sense of humor. We toured two plantations—the famous Oak Alley and Destrehan, the oldest mansion featuring different economic and political times.
We visited three different museums along the way—Winston Churchill’s (in Missouri) Abraham Lincoln’s (in Illinois) and the World War II (in New Orleans); all different and well done. We made stops in Vicksburg and Natchez, Mississippi, both civil war towns. Coming home we stopped at the Route 66 Car Museum and Fantastic Caves in Springfield, Missouri.
There are more photos to view on the EISC website, in the photo albums section. Please check them out when you get a chance, as there were so many great things to see while we were on the trip!
